Policies & Practices

Our Framework

Shaping a Resilient Agricultural Future

GGFF firmly believes that establishing predictable, transparent, and science-based regulatory systems is essential. We actively collaborate with governments, regulatory bodies, and industry stakeholders to promote policies that foster agricultural innovation while protecting human health and the environment.

Regulatory Affairs

A robust regulatory framework is the cornerstone of modern agriculture. GGFF advocates for scientifically rigorous, internationally aligned, and transparent regulations that ensure the safety of crop protection products without hindering the speed of innovation.

We work closely with the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIB&RC) and the Ministry of Agriculture to streamline registration processes, ensuring that Indian farmers gain timely access to newer, greener chemistries.

  • Advocating for risk-based, rather than hazard-based, safety assessments.
  • Promoting the harmonization of national regulations with OECD guidelines.
  • Supporting data-protection policies to encourage R&D investments.

MRLs & International Trade

Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) are trading standards designed to ensure food safety. Differences in MRL regulations between countries can create significant non-tariff trade barriers, adversely affecting Indian agricultural exports.

GGFF plays a pivotal role in facilitating dialogues between the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and international bodies like Codex Alimentarius. Our goal is the global harmonization of MRLs to ensure seamless trade.

Why Harmonization Matters

Standardizing MRLs ensures that Indian farmers can confidently export their produce globally without the fear of shipment rejections at international borders, thus boosting rural economies.

Intellectual Property Rights

Innovation in crop science requires massive investments of time and capital. Protecting Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) is absolutely critical to incentivize companies to bring cutting-edge, sustainable agricultural technologies to India.

GGFF strongly advocates for the implementation of Regulatory Data Protection (PRD) to prevent the unfair commercial use of proprietary safety and efficacy data submitted by innovators during the product registration process.

  • Securing patents for novel crop protection molecules and formulations.
  • Preventing data misappropriation in the registration process.
  • Fostering an ecosystem that rewards scientific discovery.

Safe Use & Stewardship

Our commitment to agriculture extends far beyond the sale of products. We enforce strict policies surrounding the entire lifecycle of crop protection chemicals—from R&D to the safe disposal of empty containers.

Through the 'Madhu Sandesh' initiative and various grassroots training programs, we mandate that all member companies adhere to the FAO Code of Conduct on Pesticide Management.

Container Management Policy

We advocate for an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework that ensures the systematic collection, triple-rinsing, and safe recycling of used agrochemical plastic containers.

Anti-Counterfeiting

Spurious, illegal, and counterfeit agrochemicals are a severe threat. They damage crop yields, harm the environment, pose health risks to farmers, and cause massive revenue losses to the government.

GGFF maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards counterfeit products. We actively collaborate with law enforcement agencies, state agriculture departments, and customs officials to identify, raid, and dismantle illicit manufacturing operations.

  • Implementing advanced traceability and QR-code technologies.
  • Conducting awareness campaigns ("Jago Kisan Jago") for farmers.
  • Pushing for stricter penal provisions for manufacturers of fake products.
